He sound much more like a british-goth-pop singer like taken from 'The cure' or 'Sisters of mercy' than metal band - but Ze'ev's hallowed voice and piercing shrikes make sure the listener won't be confused - this is a metal album.The best tracks here are 'Winter's tear' which is almost done without Ze'ev precense - making it sounds like a late Paradise lost song kind of.Īlso we have 'Who will comfort me now?' Which is sad in unrealistic ways - because it is so real for so many Israeli families, And the most fast and brutal song here - Symbiosis - resembeling much of black metal influences, But the best song and most catchy one here is Flames - which is layed out on groove-oriented riffs with orinetal melodies. The song is dedicated to all the victims of the holocaust or any other national disasters of the Israeli and Jewish recent history (like terrorist bombing or wars) - Amir Noibach, the band's drummer is doing all the clean vocals in the album and he has a very uniqe voice in the metal genre. ) or the loss of a soul-mate (Eyes to match a soul).The ablum kicks with the title track - a goth-rock dynamic hit with slightly metallic distortion (much like In flames clear and charming sound in Colony). Unlike most Doom/Gothic bands which deal with Romantic issues or how life sucks in general - this effort deal with the loss within a close circle, like the loss of a son (In the saddest song of Israeli metal history 'Who will comfort me now?'

The production here is so neat that you can match it easily with great acts in their terms like Paradise lost or Type O Negative.Well, I'm not into doom metal or goth metal and stuff like that - but it's Salem's speical painful atmosphere that gives this album new hights. Even though it's their more commerical release, This album swings from melodic death metal with anguishing vocals to a pop-like hard rock, or should I say goth-rock influences.There's no doubt that this is Salem most brilliant moments. This albums is in my opinions what Salem's all about.
